Hi, my name is Allie.  I just turned 5 years old.  I'm looking for a new home and I'm as sweet as can be.  I'm housetrained and great with other dogs and cats.  My previous family has a young toddler and keeping up with him is all they have time for.  I love to cuddle and play, I'm great in the car, and I even got to ride in an airplane on the way here.  I did really well and didn't make a peep.  I'm only 6-7 pounds, so I got to fly in the plane with all the people and I loved meeting everyone.  It was pretty cool!  I love to sit in your lap for snuggles, but I also love to play with toys.  In my foster home I live with other dogs and cats, and my foster mom takes me to work with her where I get lots of attention.  I'm a great little girl and will make a wonderful new companion.  I blend in and find my place in each situation.  Can you find a place in your heart for me?

Bailey is a sweet, friendly, and fun-loving girl. She would get along wonderfully with children over 10 and adults.   She loves treats, belly rubs, and playing fetch with her favorite toy.  She is a very smart dog who is already housebroken and knows traditional commands (sit, stay, lay down). She would love a house with a fenced in yard so she can run around.  She is 6 years old, up-to-date on all her vaccines, and was spayed when she was a puppy.

Bailey is a courtesy listing, and is not at Friends.  For more information about adopting this dog, call 571-334-6638 or rescuebailey@yahoo.com

Bauer was found as a stray and brought into the county shelter.  His owner was located and contacted to come pick him up.  They would let him run free in their neighborhood and he had been brought into the shelter so many times, that they were required to pay a fine.  They didn’t want to pay, so they left Bauer there to be euthanized.  Luckily, one of our volunteers spotted him and rescued him on the morning he was to be euthanized!  Maybe he is a lucky boy, but we think we’re the lucky ones to have him. He is a nice boy and walks well on a leash.  He seems to like calm dogs very well, but did not like some of the high-energy dogs that wanted to jump all over him.  He is very mellow and quiet in his run and has a sad look, like he’s waiting to finally find his forever home with people that will love him and be good to him.  He is a little shy at first, but comes around quickly when he realizes you are his friend and then he can’t get enough cuddles and love.  He would probably do better in a calm home, where he can come out of his shell on his own terms.

Hi, there!  My name is Bianca.  I taken to the pound by my previous owner, and when my time there ran out, Friends came to my rescue!  I’m still just a silly puppy, with lots of silliness inside!  I’m great with other dogs and could play until the cows came home.  Although, there aren’t really any cows here, so I don’t know how that’d work!  I was skin and bones when I got here, but now I’m putting on some much needed weight.  I’m very affectionate and love to cuddle and give kisses and rub you with my speckled nose.  I’m bouncy and playful and don’t have a mean bone in my adorable little body!  I’m all around adorable, don’t you think?

I used to live with my owner and two other dogs.  When my owner moved, I was dumped at the pound.  It was really overcrowded there and I had very little time to get out of there alive.  It simply boggles the mind that I made it to Friends, but here I am, and I’m waiting for you.  I’m not sure how well I was treated in my previous home.  A lot of times I’ll cower when you come to pet me.   Once I see you’re okay though, I’ll want to love you all up and cuddle with you!  At first I’m afraid to get in the car, but once I’m in I’m a really good passenger.   I’m fabulous with other dogs, I’ve had previous experience you know, and I’ve got good references.  I just need a little extra TLC , which I’m sure my new family has lots to give.  In return you’ll get a loving and devoted friend.

Booga was surrendered to a local shelter by his owner after they no longer could take care of him. He was too big and would chase the cats. It might have been helpful if they would have trained him when he was still a little puppy and not wait until he got too big and strong! In addition, the owner dropped him off at a very high kill shelter, and if it weren’t for the wonderful rescue coordinator at this place, over 80% of all the animals would be euthanized. Booga is a very sweet big boy. He needs to learn how to walk nicely on the leash, but doesn’t need to learn anything about cuddling;-) He has figured that out quite well! In his run he is clean and doesn’t chew his bedding. Booga is a picky eater, but that might be because he’s a little stressed. He still hasn’t figured out what he did wrong to be dropped off at the local shelter…

Brach is a very handsome and affectionate Rottie mix who just can't get enough attention.  He has excellent house-manners, gets along fine with cats, and does okay with most dogs, although he can be selective.  He needs someone who is a bit dog-savvy to be his leader, and establish some boundaries.  Brach is very willing to please, so encouraging him to follow your lead is pretty easy if you are consistent with your training.  If you give this sweet boy a chance, he will be a loyal companion who is sure to brighten your day with his fun-loving personality!

I’m a fun-loving guy named Bravo.  I’m super with other dogs and I’m so popular that I’m in all the play groups!  Bravo, hooray for me!  I’m very playful and pouncy and I’m always wearing a smile.  I love treats and will sit nicely for them, but I’m a bit reluctant to sit at any other time.  There’s just too much to see and too much fun to be had!  I love going for walks and checking out the scene.  I’ll tolerate being brushed, but again, there’s just too much to see and too much fun to be had to be sitting around being brushed.  I’m handsome enough already!

Brutis and Mina were given up by their owner because his child was allergic. They was kept in the garage in a pen or crate for 22 hours a day, mostly getting their exercise during the weekend! For the past 6 weeks they've been in the garage trying to figure out what they did wrong! And with the temperatures going into the 100's it was time to get them out of that situation. Thankfully, one of our wonderful volunteers lived just down the road and as soon as she found out about it, the dogs were on their way to Friends! According to the owner Brutis is a high energy dog who will need lots of exercise. If given the chance Brutis will bolt out of the house and run away. He’s good with kids, housebroken (but might have an accident if left alone) and doesn’t mind riding in the car but can get car sick at times. Mina is a medium energy dog who is good with children, is housebroken, might be afraid of bigger dogs, loves attention, is not a bolter, loves her crate, and is good in the car. All in all, they are wonderful dogs who are looking for a great new home.

I a happy- go- lucky boy named Calloway.  When my time ran out at the county pound, Friends came to my rescue.  I’m bouncy and playful and just a down right goofy boy!  I love playing with other dogs and will bow and pounce and wrestle until I’ve had all I can stands and I can’t stands no more!   I just get so excited to play and make new friends.  I’m definitely an outgoing friendly boy I like having my butt rubbed and will dance around in a jig because it feels so good!  I’m great on the leash and loving going for walks and sitting by your side for some nice treats.  I’m very affectionate, but not lick your face off affectionate.  I’ll be an excellent family member, and probably the cutest too!

Hi, there.  My name is Catrin.  I lost my home when my owner passsed away.  I had a canine brother too, but he didn’t make it.  The whole situation just stressed him out too badly.  Despite my loss, I remain a loving and sweet girl to the core.  I’m excellent with other dogs and am always eager to make new friend.  I can be a little timid of new things, but curious at the same time.  Hey, if you say its okay, I’ll take your word for it.   I’m pretty happy-go-lucky and I just adore being around people.  I love to hear kind and encouraging words from you, and when I do I get so full of myself I start prancing around like a princess.  I have a wonderful personality, I’m an absolute doll.  I have so much love just waiting to burst out of me and I would love to share it with you.

Chai was found at our shelter tied to the fence with a chain around her neck. The night she was abandoned was extremely cold and it was the day the big snowstorm started. Her "owner" was "nice" enough to put a blanket down where she was tied up. Chai was terrified! Because we didn't have any shot records on her she was put in quarantine. She got comfortable with a couple of the workers but would be terrified with those she didn't know. Now that Chai is out of quarantine, she is doing much better! She is strong on the leash, seems ok around other dogs and takes her treats gently. It will just be a matter of time before she's comfortable.

Chappy is an adorable little Chihuahua who has tons of personality. He is fun and playful, and is sure to put a smile on your face. Chappy takes to women more quickly than to men, but he is fine if you give him a few minutes to see that you are his friend. He likes to dance on his hind legs to get your attention, and is an overall very happy little dog. Chappy’s previous family wasn’t able to keep him any longer, so they dropped him off at a county shelter. When he ran out of time, Friends came to his rescue. Chappy doesn’t like being grabbed or chased, so he would do best going to a home without kids. He is a great dog for gentle adults, and he can’t wait to find his forever home.

Cocoa and her brother, along with several cats, lived with the original owners since birth. Apparently the owners placed the dogs outside when they failed to house train them.  Cocoa was tied outside the residence in the hot sun with no shade.  She had two litters of puppies in total.  There were four puppies in the first litter.  Two of the puppies froze to death and the other 2 survived, but the neighbors were unsure of what happened to them.  She had another litter of two puppies and unfortunately they both died.  Cocoa's brother also died.  Once the owners left Cocoa on the chain and moved away, the neighbor felt sorry for her and moved Cocoa onto their property where she at least had shade and a small stream close by to drink water and stay somewhat cooler.  Cocoa was fed very well and played with their daughter and their beagle.  The family said that Cocoa is very sweet and loves children.  After everything Cocoa has been through, she can't wait to have a second chance as a beloved family member.  Please consider adopting this wonderful and very deserving girl!

Consuela was brought into a county shelter as a humane hold case.  This means she was not being treated well by her owners and the county reclaimed her and she had to wait at the shelter for months, pending a court case.  She was kept outside with a buddy, in the yard, with no shelter, food and water.  You would never know that she had such a bad life.  She is the happiest dog in the world!  She is a little nervous about walking on a leash because she’s likely never done it before.  She does a little bit of a low slink or crawl when she starts out on the leash, but walks more comfortably as gains confidence.  She would excel in training class, as she is very smart and would benefit from the socialization.  She is pretty high energy and would probably do well with children, but might knock them over if they are too young.  She is a great little girl.

Airedale Terrier Mix (Male/Senior/75 lbs.)

Good with kids:   No
Special needs:      Needs someone who is experienced with dogs

My name is Copper. I was given that name because I have a handsome black and copper-colored coat. I’m a playful boy who’s just a big goofball. I have a typical Airedale personality. That means I have a more serious side, too. I’m wary of strangers, especially those who venture inside my home. Because of this tendency, I’ll need an experienced Airedale owner who understands that I prefer to be closed inside a nice comfy bedroom when you have guests in your home. I also prefer a quiet environment, so I’d do best in a home without children. When I arrived at Friends, I had a sore hip from an injury I sustained when I was hit by a car. My hip has healed nicely, but it’s sensitive sometimes and I get nervous if you pet me there. Outside the home I’m more confident and less protective. I enjoy taking walks and I’m well behaved on a leash. I’m also housetrained. I’d make a loyal companion for an experienced owner.
